Abstract (ENG): | Services offered via the Internet are constantly evolving and more and more supporting consumers to take active control of their well-being through access to health information etc. Although particularly elderly people could benefit from eHealth, they often feel unable to use the internet. Drawing on social cognitive theory, we seek to understand how internet self-efficacy affects the usage of eHealth services by elderly people. As many of (today elderly) people were required to use computers in their workplaces, we aim to explore the impact of prior occupational internet usage on self-efficacy and thus use of eHealth services. We present a conceptual model which has been pre-tested with 50 informants in Germany and is currently being revised to be tested with a larger number of participants. |
