Abstract (ENG): The technology for self-driving cars is evolving rapidly, and modern vehicles are now connected and equipped with several systems. The current architecture of connected autonomous vehicles is an extremely customized, hardware- and software-based system often linked via diverse in-vehicle network interfaces. Due to a few severe accidents with autonomous vehicles in recent years, safety requirements have increased significantly in specific to the security of hardware and software components. These are decisive for the acceptance and trust in self-driving technology in the future. This paper provides an overview of safety relevant components of automotive hardware and software regarding their implementation, and interaction in road applications. The authors synthesize their findings by stating relevant aspects for future IS research.
