Abstract (ENG): This research paper examines sustainability challenges in the fashion industry, including environmental impact, fast fashion, labour practices, and the lack of a circular economy. It aims to pinpoint the specific needs of fashion company founders for advancing sustainability. The study delves into the obstacles founders face when adopting sustainable tools and methods, considers the industry ecosystem and external constraints, and explores the challenge of finding genuinely sustainable suppliers. The research employs an exploratory approach involving a literature review and expert interviews. The expert interviews are drawn from fashion startups and entrepreneurs. Qualitative analysis is applied to analyse the findings. The research enhances our understanding of sustainability requirements in the fashion industry, providing valuable insights for fashion companies and scholars. These findings will ultimately assist fashion company founders and leaders in implementing more sustainable practices in production, shipping, and fashion product sales.
