| Abstract (ENG): | The Flipped Classroom (FC) approach has been discussed for some years as a promising method to overcome the traditional lecturer-centric upfront teaching. While it has been studied intensively in schools and partially also for higher education, results for Software Engineering (SE) education and in particular comparing different countries are scarce. Therefore, in this paper three FC-based SE university courses held in Australia and Germany are evaluated and compared. The results suggest that while the approach is in general feasible and appreciated also by the students, in particular in the German course students also complained about the higher workload and the perceived “openess” of the course outcomes. This indicates that the impact of cultural background needs to be further evaluated in the context of the FC approach. |
