Convertible production is a central element of Industry 4.0 and focuses on the modular design of production equipment. In this sense, wireless power transfer systems are becoming increasingly important, since conventional wired power transfer is not capable of fulfilling the requirements of location-independent production equipment on the shop floor, or only to a limited degree. The paper addresses this problem and introduces a universal classification framework on which basis wireless power transfer systems can be classified and differentiated, in order to simplify the usage of the technology and to move it towards an industrial wireless power transfer standard. Furthermore, the paper shows an overview which types of wireless power transfer systems are currently used in industrial applications. |
