Abstract (ENG): In the growing field of Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), there is a need for Foreign Object Detection (FOD) in order to ensure the safety of the WPT system. As the number of applications and FOD methods grow, a fast and quick way of categorizing FOD methods in specific applications is desired. Through a literature research on FOD methods, an evaluation framework has been proposed. The framework consists of a requirement part, where seven suitable categories have been presented. To compare the FOD methods, ten criteria are presented among with up to five different classification categories for each criterion. The FOD methods are then compared against each other with the help of the requirements, criteria and weights of the criteria by utilizing a scoring matrix. Finally, the FOD methods are classified. The evaluation framework could be applied to any FOD method for any application due to its high versatility.
