| Abstract (ENG): |
The ongoing digital transformation has made data one of the most valuable assets for companies. As a result, the ability to efficiently carry out data science projects has become strategically important for deriving value from data. This requires the development and application of relevant organizational capabilities. Existing maturity models concentrate either on general project management or specifically on data and technology aspects. Due to a missing integrated framework, organizations often struggle to assess and enhance their data science project management capabilities. This study presents a data science project management maturity model (DSP3M) to help organizations assess the associated capabilities. We develop the model using a multi-method approach that summarizes the literature and incorporates feedback from practice. The resulting DSP3M comprises 15 capability dimensions from three perspectives: Project, Organization, and Strategy. It serves as a self-assessment tool for organizations and helps to create a roadmap for improving the required skills. |
